About Charles Belle (he's super awesome!!):

Charles Belle is the Founder and CEO of Startup Policy Lab. Startup Policy Lab is a nonprofit think tank working at the intersection of law, technology, and policy. Charles engages in research around the interplay of government technology initiatives in support of building innovative communities. He has a particular fondness for studying the impact of Open Data in multiple contexts, such as privacy and procurement reform, but is intrigued by any regulatory issue that impacts the startup community.

In addition to Startup Policy Lab, Charles is an appointed public member of the City & County of San Francisco’s Committee on Information Technology, the entity that determines the policies and direction for San Francisco’s information technology community. He is a Non-Residential Fellow at Stanford University’s Center for Internet & Society. He also serves as the global Policy Director for Hackers/Founders, the world’s largest community of hackers and founders, with over 200,000 members around the world.

Prior to Startup Policy Lab, Charles was the Executive Director of the Institute for Innovation Law. He served as the lead researcher for Code for America’s procurement reform project and is a grantee of a Sunlight Foundation OpenGov grant to make municipal procurement laws more understandable, accessible, and transparent. Charles has an AB and AM from the University of Chicago and a JD from UC Hastings.

About the Bloomberg West Coast Technology Hub:
In May 2015, Bloomberg opened its first west coast tech hub in San Francisco located in the landmark art deco PacBell Building at 140 New Montgomery Street. Bloomberg’s unique technology has transformed financial decision-making and brought transparency to global financial markets. The new tech hub will expand and evolve the company’s technological footprint, while attracting top engineering talent in the Bay Area.
