GENERAL INFO

From June 5th to 7th, thousands of people from across the United States will come together to build new solutions to improve our communities and the governments that serve them. Passionate neighbors, urbanists, civic hackers, developers, designers, government staff, and community organizers will unite around building tools for San Francisco.

Here in SF, we will tackle project and challenges on open data, health, safety and justice, economic development, climate, disaster relief, oceans, and mapping. Come to join a project to tackle specific challenges, to interview residents for user testing, to hone skills at workshops, or to build a stronger SF with your neighbors.

Make sure you get tickets to attend here!!

THE JIST

National Day of Civic Hacking is the biggest gathering of civic hackers in the world.

Many communities around the globe have existing frameworks for civic hacking events—like Code for America brigades and Random Hacks of Kindness groups—that National Day supports and features on hackforchange.org. Anyone with ideas can participate or organize local events, which include hackathons, unconferences, meetups, block parties and a whole lot more.

Throughout the weekend (and beyond, in many cases) participants create services, apps and websites that address social and civic problems, like environmental impact, accessibility, transit, homelessness, and civic transparency.
